Nook Is Back With the New Nook GlowLight E-Reader

Barnes & Noble has released a new e-reader just in time for the holiday season. The 6-inch Nook GlowLight is B&N’s answer to the Kindle Paperwhite, and an update on last year’s Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight. (Thankfully, they’ve pared down the name to something much less unwieldy.)

Here’s what you need to know about the new GlowLight:

  • It’ll retail for $119
  • It’s housed in a cream-colored case designed to imitate the color of paper, surrounded by a silicone rim that adds protection and makes it easier to hold
  • It weighs a mere 6.2 ounces, which is less than both the last GlowLight and the current generation of Paperwhite
  • Unlike the Paperwhite with Special Offers (the $119 Paperwhite that the identically priced GlowLight is in direct competition with), it’s ad-free
  • It relies on e-ink with a backlight that can be turned on or off
  • It sports 4GB of memory
  • The battery will last for eight weeks or so with half an hour of use each day, even with the backlight on

Definitely something to keep in mind when you’re out shopping for the holidays. What do you think?
